GB/T 713 Q460R, also written Q460 R, GB/T 713.2 Q460R and Q460R steel plate, is the highest C-Mn-microalloy step in GB/T 713.2-2023. Buyers still search GB/T 713. Yield is 460 MPa in the thin band. Tensile is 630–750 MPa at 6–20 mm and 610–730 MPa at 20–30 mm. Delivery is normalizing or normalizing plus tempering. A purchase order that only says “Q460 vessel plate” is incomplete. Write GB/T 713 Q460R or GB/T 713.2 Q460R. Do not ship Q420R against a Q460R drawing. Do not ship structural Q460C / Q460D / Q460E against a vessel drawing. Do not ship Q460DR against a Q460R drawing. Do not ship SA516 Gr.70 and stamp Q460R because tensile looks close.

Q460R was added in GB/T 713.2-2023. It is the next step after Q420R when the Chinese vessel book still applies and QT Q490R under GB/T 713.6 is not yet required.

This page is not JIS G3106 SM570. It is not EN 10025-6 S460Q. It is not QT alloy under ASME SA387. It is not low-temperature Q460DR under GB/T 713.3.

GB/T 713 Q460R / Q460 R heat analysis follows GB/T 713.2 Table 1. Product analysis follows the permitted deviations in GB/T 713.1. Write “heat + product analysis” on the order if both are required.

Heat Analysis and Product Analysis — GB/T 713 Q460R

Nitrogen shall not exceed 0.025% when the buyer writes that limit. Carbon equivalent may be specified by agreement. Do not treat Q420R chemistry as Q460R. Do not treat structural Q460C chemistry as Q460R. SHH STEEL reports heat analysis on every certificate and product analysis when the order names it.

Yield starts at 460 MPa in the thin band.

Tensile and Yield — GB/T 713 Q460R (typical published bands)

Elongation is commonly 17% min. Impact is written on the order. Many export files keep −20 °C. Do not assume the Q460DR −40 °C package. Do not quote 460 MPa yield on a thickness the mill table has already stepped down. Do not treat 630–750 MPa tensile as permission to stamp SA737 Gr.C, SA612 or SA537 Cl.2 without checking yield, impact and PWHT.

These names are project-comparison grades. They are not automatic substitutes. Dual marking is possible only when chemistry, tensile, impact, delivery condition and all extras fit both named editions.

ASME SA515, ASME SA387 and ASME SA203 are not Q460R.

GB/T 713 Q460R / Q460 R is selected for boilers, mobile tanks, towers and other pressure equipment that name the Chinese vessel book at the 460 MPa normalize step. It sits above Q420R and below QT Q490R. It is not automatically an ASME Section VIII plate. If the vessel is ASME, the drawing should name an ASME or ASTM grade such as SA737 Gr.C, SA612 or SA537 Cl.2.

Q460R is killed C-Mn-microalloy vessel plate at the 460 MPa step. Welding is production welding, and Code welding when the equipment is a vessel.

Qualify procedures to the applicable code. For ASME work that happens to use a dual-named plate, use ASME Section IX. Consumables should match the 630–750 MPa tensile band, not a SA387 Gr.12 Cl.2 Cr-Mo procedure and not a QT procedure from SA517 Gr.Q. Preheat follows thickness and hydrogen control. Carbon equivalent may be limited by agreement. The fabricator owns the WPS. SHH STEEL can share mill heat data for that review.

Usual delivery from SHH STEEL is normalized or normalized-and-tempered GB/T 713 Q460R. As-rolled shipment is not the default for this grade.

If the vessel will see PWHT, test coupons shall follow a simulated cycle when the order names it. This is not the QT route used on SA738 Gr.B or GB/T 713.6 Q490R. Special heat treatment, extra simulation or third-party hold points add time. Plan about two months when those extras are on the order.

The certificate lists GB/T 713 Q460R or GB/T 713.2 Q460R; heat number; heat analysis; product analysis when ordered; tensile results to the correct thickness column; N or N+T statement; impact at the named temperature. Certificates may be EN 10204 3.1 or EN 10204 3.2. Dual marking to P460NH or SA737 Gr.C is available only when both books are met.

Usual supply range from SHH STEEL for Q460R pressure vessel plate:

• Thickness: commonly 6 mm – 30 mm in published tables. Confirm any request above 30 mm against mill capability
• Width: 1500 mm – 4000 mm
• Length: 3000 mm – 12000 mm
• Cut-to-length plates and nest sizes inside those limits

Ship plate inquiries belong on shipbuilding steel plates or BV Rules. Weathering plate belongs on EN 10025-5 or Corten A/B. TMCP fine-grain structural belongs on EN 10025-4. QT structural belongs on EN 10025-6. Ordinary structural belongs on EN 10025-2 or JIS G3106.

Dimensional limits follow GB/T 713.1 and the mill rolling standard named on the order. Do not apply ASTM A36/A36M structural tolerances to a Chinese vessel plate without writing them. UT to GB/T 2970, JB/T 4730, EN 10160 or ASTM A435 / A577 / A578 is added when the order names it.

Most export GB/T 713 Q460R / Q460 R orders add extras. SHH STEEL does not assume them.

Product analysis. Add this when the destination file wants finished-plate chemistry.

Nitrogen limit. 0.025% max when written.

Carbon equivalent. By agreement.
