GB/T 713 15CrMoR Steel Plate | 15CrMoR Cr-Mo Vessel Plate
What is GB/T 713 15CrMoR Steel?
GB/T 713 15CrMoR, also written GB/T 713.2 15CrMoR and 15CrMoR steel plate, is a Chinese 1.25Cr-0.5Mo boiler and pressure-vessel plate. Current product rules sit in GB/T 713.2-2023. Buyers still search GB/T 713. The name itself is the search term: about 0.15% C, Cr, Mo, and R for vessel. Yield is 295 MPa at 6–60 mm. Tensile is 450–590 MPa. Delivery is normalizing plus tempering. Tempering shall not be lower than 650 °C. Impact is commonly 20 °C, 47 J. SHH STEEL is a global steel mill sourcing partner and steel manufacturer & exporter (mill-direct, China origin) for this grade.
A purchase order that only says “CrMo vessel plate” is incomplete. Write GB/T 713 15CrMoR. Do not ship Q345R against a 15CrMoR drawing. Do not ship 14Cr1MoR against a 15CrMoR drawing. Do not ship SA387 Gr.12 Cl.2 and stamp 15CrMoR because tensile looks close. Dual marking is possible only when both books are fully met.
This page is not carbon Q245R / Q345R. It is not Mn-Mo-Nb 18MnMoNbR. It is not 2.25Cr-1Mo 12Cr2Mo1R. It is not QT alloy under ASME SA543.
Company scope: global steel mill sourcing partner – SHH STEEL.

Chemical Composition
GB/T 713 15CrMoR heat analysis follows GB/T 713.2 Table 1. Product analysis follows the permitted deviations in GB/T 713.1. Write “heat + product analysis” on the order if both are required.
Heat Analysis and Product Analysis — GB/T 713 15CrMoR
| Element | Heat Analysis (%) | Product Analysis, when ordered (%) |
|---|---|---|
| Carbon (C) | 0.12 – 0.18 | 0.10 – 0.20 |
| Silicon (Si) | 0.15 – 0.40 | 0.13 – 0.45 |
| Manganese (Mn) | 0.40 – 0.70 | 0.35 – 0.75 |
| Phosphorus (P), max | 0.025 | 0.030 |
| Sulfur (S), max | 0.010 | 0.015 |
| Chromium (Cr) | 0.80 – 1.20 | 0.75 – 1.25 |

Chromium and molybdenum are required. That is the difference versus Q345R and versus 18MnMoNbR. Do not treat 14Cr1MoR chemistry as 15CrMoR. 14Cr1MoR is the next Cr-Mo step. SHH STEEL reports heat analysis on every certificate and product analysis when the order names it.
Mechanical Properties
Yield starts at 295 MPa at 6–60 mm and falls as thickness rises.
Tensile and Yield — GB/T 713 15CrMoR
| Thickness (mm) | Yield min (MPa) | Tensile (MPa) |
|---|---|---|
| 6 – 60 | 295 | 450 – 590 |

Cr-Mo Pressure-Vessel Service
GB/T 713 15CrMoR is selected for boilers, heat exchangers, hydrogen service shells and other pressure equipment that name the Chinese 1.25Cr-0.5Mo vessel book. Chromium and molybdenum support elevated-temperature strength and oxidation resistance. It is not automatically an ASME Section VIII plate. If the vessel is ASME, the drawing should name SA387 Gr.12 Cl.2 or SA387 Gr.11 Cl.2.
SHH STEEL supplies this plate to fabricators in the United States, Mexico, South America, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia. It is not nickel low-temp plate like SA203 Gr.D. It is not QT Ni-Cr-Mo like SA543 Type B Cl.1. It is not 2.25Cr-1Mo like SA387 Gr.22 Cl.2. Stainless inquiries belong on ASME SA240 or ASTM A240.
Weldability
15CrMoR is killed 1.25Cr-0.5Mo vessel plate. Welding is production welding, and Code welding when the equipment is a vessel.
Qualify procedures to the applicable code. For ASME work that happens to use a dual-named plate, use ASME Section IX. Consumables should match the Cr-Mo content, typically 1.25Cr-0.5Mo filler, not a plain Q345R procedure and not a SA387 Gr.22 Cl.2 2.25Cr-1Mo procedure. Preheat and PWHT follow thickness and hydrogen control. The fabricator owns the WPS. SHH STEEL can share mill heat data for that review.
Heat Treatment and Delivery Condition
Usual delivery from SHH STEEL is normalized-and-tempered GB/T 713 15CrMoR. Tempering shall not be lower than 650 °C. As-rolled shipment is not the default.
If the vessel will see PWHT, test coupons shall follow a simulated cycle when the order names it. This is not the carbon normalize route used on Q345R and not the Mn-Mo-Nb N+T route used on 18MnMoNbR. Special heat treatment, extra simulation or third-party hold points add time. Plan about two months when those extras are on the order.
The certificate lists GB/T 713 15CrMoR; heat number; heat analysis; product analysis when ordered; tensile results to the correct thickness column; N+T and tempering temperature; impact at 20 °C or the named temperature; elevated-temperature proof stress when ordered. Certificates may be EN 10204 3.1 or EN 10204 3.2. Dual marking to SA387 Gr.12 Cl.2 is available only when both books are met.
Dimensions
Usual supply range from SHH STEEL for 15CrMoR Cr-Mo vessel plate:
- Thickness: commonly 6 mm – 200 mm. Confirm any request above 150 mm against mill capability
- Width: 1500 mm – 4000 mm
- Length: 3000 mm – 12000 mm
- Cut-to-length plates and nest sizes inside those limits
Ship plate inquiries belong on shipbuilding steel plates or BV Rules. Weathering plate belongs on EN 10025-5 or Corten A/B. TMCP fine-grain structural belongs on EN 10025-4. QT structural belongs on EN 10025-6. Ordinary structural belongs on EN 10025-2 or JIS G3106.
Tolerances
Dimensional limits follow GB/T 713.1 and the mill rolling standard named on the order. Do not apply ASTM A36/A36M structural tolerances to a Chinese vessel plate without writing them. UT to GB/T 2970, JB/T 4730, EN 10160 or ASTM A435 / A577 / A578 is added when the order names it.
Supplementary Requirements
Most export GB/T 713 15CrMoR orders add extras. SHH STEEL does not assume them.
Charpy details. Temperature, energy, location and orientation. GB default is commonly 20 °C / 47 J.
Product analysis. Add this when the destination file wants finished-plate chemistry.
Elevated-temperature proof stress. Design temperature as written.
Simulated PWHT. When the equipment will be stress-relieved.
NDE. UT per the named method.
Z-direction. Z15 / Z25 / Z35 when the drawing names it.
HIC / NACE / SSC / hydrogen service. Only when written.
Third-party. EN 10204 3.2, with inspectors arranged for US, Mexican, European, Middle East, Japanese or Korean documentation packages.
