St44-3 is a non-alloy structural steel under the former German standard DIN 17100. It provides a minimum yield strength of 275 MPa (for thickness ≤ 16 mm) and a tensile strength range of 430–580 MPa. Compared with St44-2, St44-3 has stricter limits on phosphorus, sulfur and nitrogen, resulting in better toughness and overall quality. Although DIN 17100 has been largely superseded by EN 10025-2, St44-3 remains requested in many markets and is closely equivalent to S275J0.
