1.4507 stainless steel plate: product overview and SHH STEEL sourcing

EN 10088-2 X2CrNiMoCuN25-6-3 1.4507 stainless steel plate is a super duplex (austenitic-ferritic) flat product supplied to EN 10088-2, the European standard for stainless steel sheet, plate and strip for general purposes. X2CrNiMoCuN25-6-3 contains up to 0.030 % carbon, 24.0 – 26.0 % chromium, 6.0 – 8.0 % nickel, 3.0 – 4.0 % molybdenum, 0.20 – 0.30 % nitrogen and 1.00 – 2.50 % copper. The copper addition sets it apart from 1.4410 and is aimed at sulphuric and phosphoric acid service. EN 10088-2 places 1.4507 among its special grades, defined as grades for special use and/or with limited availability. It is listed as cold rolled strip up to 8 mm, continuously hot rolled strip up to 13.5 mm and hot rolled plate up to 75 mm, solution annealed, with a minimum plate proof strength of 530 MPa. Table 8 rates it resistant to intergranular corrosion both as delivered and after sensitization.

SHH STEEL works as a steel sourcing partner with long-term relationships with Chinese stainless mills that roll duplex and super duplex hot rolled plate, coil and cold rolled sheet. For large tonnages, the buyer can contract directly with a suitable mill, with SHH STEEL assisting for a modest service fee and handling follow-up and documents. For small orders we consolidate demand, so that 1 – 5 t lots are placed against genuine mill production instead of stock of unknown origin. Each shipment can be released after third-party inspection by TUV, ABS, BV, DNV, CCS or an agency the buyer nominates, and payment by TT or LC is accepted. The rest of this page covers the technical side of EN 10088-2 1.4507 and the steps we take so that the sheet that arrives is the sheet that was ordered.

The table below lists the concerns buyers raise most often when sourcing EN 10088-2 X2CrNiMoCuN25-6-3 sheet and plate from China, and how SHH STEEL deals with each of them.

Buyer ConcernSHH STEEL Solution
Fake material or certificates1.4462, 1.4410 or a heat low in copper or nitrogen is sometimes offered as 1.4507; chromium, molybdenum, nickel and copper are checked by XRF or OES, and nitrogen by laboratory analysis. Partner laboratories handle chemical analysis, tensile, impact, ferrite and corrosion testing, and 3.2 certificates with third-party witness are available.
Unsafe depositPayment by TT, LC or a TT + LC combination. For large acid plant, scrubber or offshore projects the buyer can contract directly with the mill, with SHH STEEL assisting for a small service fee.
Quantity below mill minimumAs a special grade, 1.4507 is usually needed in small lots. SHH STEEL consolidates orders so 1 – 5 t lots can join a mill rolling campaign.
Delivery delaysA dedicated person follows up the delivery schedule with the mill and reports progress at melting, rolling, annealing, pickling, testing and packing.
Fabrication needsOur workshop provides plasma, waterjet and laser cutting, sawing and bending, allowing for the high cutting and forming forces of super duplex, with protective film on visible surfaces.

EN 10088-2 vs EN 10028-7 and ASTM A240: standard selection for X2CrNiMoCuN25-6-3 plate

The IMOA duplex guide cross-references 1.4507 to two UNS numbers: ASTM A240 S32520 and ASTM A240 S32550. ASTM A240-22 lists S32520 without a type name and gives S32550 the name 255, which footnote G describes as a common name, not associated with any one producer. SHH STEEL orders and certifies by EN steel number and UNS number; a specific producer’s branded product has to be named and agreed in the order. For pressure equipment the grade is ordered to EN 10028-7; see EN 10028-7 1.4507 pressure vessel plate.

ItemEN 10088-2 1.4507ASTM A240-22 S32520ASTM A240-22 S32550 (255)
Carbon≤ 0.030 %≤ 0.030 %≤ 0.04 %

Manganese≤ 2.00 %≤ 1.50 %≤ 1.50 %
Silicon≤ 0.70 %≤ 0.80 %≤ 1.00 %

S32520 is the closer match: the EN ranges for chromium, nickel, molybdenum and nitrogen sit inside it, so a dual-certified heat needs only manganese of at most 1.50 % and copper of 1.00 – 2.00 %. S32550 overlaps only partly; a heat meeting both 1.4507 and S32550 would need nickel of 6.0 – 6.5 %, nitrogen of 0.20 – 0.25 %, copper of 1.50 – 2.50 % and molybdenum of 3.0 – 3.9 %, which is narrow. The IMOA guide gives a minimum annealing temperature of 1 080 – 1 120 °C for S32520, from producer data sheets and ASTM A 480, so dual-certified plate should be annealed in that part of the EN range. SHH STEEL checks both sets of limits when a buyer needs dual certification.

1.4507 is also listed in EN 10028-7:2016 for pressure purposes, together with 1.4410 (EN 10028-7 1.4410 pressure vessel plate) and 1.4501 (EN 10028-7 1.4501 pressure vessel plate). That standard may set its own test and property requirements, which we have not reproduced here.

1.4507 chemical composition: heat analysis and product analysis tolerances

The 1.4507 chemical composition below is the cast (heat) analysis from EN 10088-2:2014 Table 2. Values are percentages by mass; a single figure is a maximum.

CSiMnPSCrMoNiNCu
0.0300.702.000.0350.01524.0 – 26.03.0 – 4.06.0 – 8.00.20 – 0.301.00 – 2.50

The 1.4507 chemical composition combines super duplex levels of chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen with 1.00 – 2.50 % copper and a tighter silicon limit (0.70 %) than 1.4410. Table 2 gives 1.4507 no PRE footnote, so a minimum PRE has to be agreed in the order if required. SHH STEEL checks chromium, molybdenum, nickel, nitrogen and copper on every certificate and calculates the PRE from the cast analysis.

Product analysis tolerances (EN 10088-2 Table 5)

A product analysis is a check made on the delivered sheet. It is not mandatory under EN 10088-2; it is carried out when agreed at the time of enquiry and order, and SHH STEEL can arrange it through a partner laboratory. The permissible tolerances on the cast limits are:

ElementCast limit, %Permissible tolerance, %Product analysis limit, %
C≤ 0.030+ 0.005≤ 0.035
Si≤ 0.70+ 0.05≤ 0.75
Mn≤ 2.00± 0.04≤ 2.04
P≤ 0.035+ 0.005≤ 0.040
S≤ 0.015+ 0.003≤ 0.018
Cr24.0 – 26.0± 0.2523.75 – 26.25

N0.20 – 0.30± 0.020.18 – 0.32
Cu1.00 – 2.50+ 0.04 / ± 0.101.00 – 2.60

Where several product analyses are made on one cast, individual results may exceed the maximum or fall below the minimum, but not both for the same element. Copper uses + 0.04 % (plus only) at the 1.00 % minimum, which falls in the up-to-1.00 % band of Table 5, and ± 0.10 % at the 2.50 % maximum. If a product analysis is required, it should be stated in the order together with the Table 5 tolerances.

1.4507 mechanical properties: solution annealed condition

The 1.4507 mechanical properties below are the room-temperature values from EN 10088-2:2014 Table 8 for austenitic-ferritic steels in the solution annealed condition. Proof strength applies to transverse test pieces; elongation applies to longitudinal and transverse test pieces, with A80 below 3 mm and the proportional elongation A from 3 mm.

Product formMax. thickness, mmRp0.2 min, MPa (tr.)Rm, MPaA80 min, % (< 3 mm)A min, % (≥ 3 mm)KV2 min, J (> 10 mm, long. / tr.)

P – hot rolled plate75530730 – 9302525100 / 60

Table 8 gives no 1 % proof strength: under section 7.4.2 of EN 10088-2 the 1 % proof strength is determined for austenitic steels only. For continuously hot rolled products, 20 MPa higher minimum Rp0.2 values may be agreed at the time of enquiry and order. For strip in rolling widths below 300 mm tested longitudinally, the minimum proof strength is reduced by 15 MPa. For bigger sizes than those listed, mechanical values are to be agreed.

Table 8 rates 1.4507 resistance to intergranular corrosion (EN ISO 3651-2) as “yes” in both the delivery condition and the sensitized condition. In Table 8, the hot rolled strip row shares the tensile strength and elongation of the cold rolled strip row, and the impact values apply to strip and plate over 10 mm.

Cold worked condition (process route 2H)

EN 10088-2 Tables 19 and 20 list no cold worked (2H) strength levels for 1.4507, or for any other austenitic-ferritic grade, so it is ordered in the solution annealed condition (+AT). Its annealed plate proof strength is already 530 MPa.

Minimum 0.2 % proof strength at elevated temperature (EN 10088-2 Table 13, +AT)

Temperature, °C100150200250
Rp0.2 min, MPa450420400380

Table 13 gives values only from 100 °C to 250 °C, and only for the 0.2 % proof strength. These are the same values as for 1.4410 and 1.4501. The IMOA “Practical Guidelines for the Fabrication of Duplex Stainless Steels” (3rd edition) explains that alpha prime forms in the ferrite below about 525 °C, causing 475 °C embrittlement, and lists an ASME upper limit of 315 °C for Alloy 255.

Heat treatment of X2CrNiMoCuN25-6-3: hot forming and solution annealing

EN 10088-2 Table A.2 gives the following guideline temperatures for 1.4507:

OperationTemperature, °CCooling
Hot forming1 150 – 1 000Air
Solution annealing (+AT)1 040 – 1 120Water or air, sufficiently rapid to avoid precipitation

The footnotes to Table A.2 state that solution annealing temperatures shall be agreed for simulated heat-treated test pieces, that with a continuous furnace the upper part of the range is usually preferred or even exceeded, and that cooling must be rapid enough to avoid precipitation.

According to the IMOA “Practical Guidelines for the Fabrication of Duplex Stainless Steels” (3rd edition), postweld stress relief is not needed for duplex grades and is likely to be harmful, because it may precipitate intermetallic phases (700 – 1 000 °C) or alpha prime (around 475 °C); where a heat treatment is needed, it should be a full solution anneal followed by water quenching.

The IMOA guide gives a hot-forming range of 1 230 – 1 000 °C and a minimum soaking temperature of 1 080 °C for S32520, and a minimum annealing temperature of 1 080 – 1 120 °C. EN 10088-2 Table A.2 is a guideline; for dual-certified material the anneal is therefore set in the upper part of the EN range. Material is delivered as +AT.

Physical properties of 1.4507 duplex plate

The values below are approximate reference figures for X2CrNiMoCuN25-6-3 at room temperature, from the worldstainless “Tables of Technical Properties”, which follow EN 10088-1. They are suitable for design estimates and weight calculation; where a figure is critical, use EN 10088-1 itself.

Specific heat at 20 °Cabout 500 J/(kg·K)
Electrical resistivity at 20 °C0.80 Ω·mm²/m
Magnetic behaviourFerromagnetic (magnetic), because of the ferrite phase

The worldstainless table gives 1.4507 the same values as 1.4410: a density of 7.8 g/cm³, a modulus of 200 GPa, a thermal conductivity of 15 W/(m·K), a specific heat of 500 J/(kg·K) and an electrical resistivity of 0.80 Ω·mm²/m, and lists it under the ferromagnetic grades. Its expansion values of 12.5 and 13.5 × 10⁻⁶ /K are footnoted to AFNOR NF A 35-573 as 20 – 100 °C and 20 – 300 °C means. The IMOA guide notes that all duplex stainless steels are ferromagnetic because of their ferrite.

Corrosion behaviour of X2CrNiMoCuN25-6-3 1.4507

The Euro Inox fabrication tables list 1.4507 for the oil and gas industry, the pulp and paper industries, sulphuric and phosphoric acid plants, pollution control equipment (scrubbers) and geothermal tubes. The PRE (Cr + 3.3 Mo + 16 N) is about 37.1 at the minimum of the EN ranges; the IMOA guide gives a PREN range of 40 – 43 for S32520 and 38 – 41 for S32550. EN 10088-2 Table 8 rates its resistance to intergranular corrosion, tested to EN ISO 3651-2, as “yes” in the delivery condition and “yes” in the sensitized condition.

Without copper, the nearest EN super duplex is EN 10088-2 1.4410 plate; with copper and tungsten, it is EN 10088-2 1.4501 plate. The standard duplex EN 10088-2 1.4462 plate is the usual step down where super duplex resistance is not needed.

As NOTE 2 to section 6.4 of EN 10088-2 points out, corrosion resistance depends strongly on the environment and cannot always be clearly ascertained through laboratory tests, so experience with the grade in similar service should be used.

Weldability of 1.4507 duplex plate: SHH STEEL workshop practice

1.4507 is weldable by the common arc processes used for super duplex grades. The Euro Inox welding table lists 1.4507 without process ratings or a filler, so the guidance below comes from the IMOA duplex guide.

  • The IMOA guide limits the interpass temperature to 100 °C for super duplex grades and does not recommend preheating, except about 100 °C to remove moisture.
  • For joints between super duplex grades, IMOA Table 16 lists AWS E2594 consumables.
  • Very high heat input risks intermetallic phases, while very low heat input leaves an excessively ferritic weld.
  • EN 10088-2 Table 8 rates 1.4507 “yes” for intergranular corrosion after sensitization; EN 10088-2 does not specify welding procedures.

These points reflect industry practice for super duplex (austenitic-ferritic) stainless steels rather than requirements of EN 10088-2, which does not specify welding procedures. In the SHH STEEL workshop, plate blanks are cut with clean, burr-free edges, ready for the fabricator’s own joint preparation.

Forming, cold working and cutting of X2CrNiMoCuN25-6-3 in the SHH STEEL workshop

Annealed 1.4507 plate has at least 25 % elongation in Table 8, but its proof strength of 530 MPa is well above that of 1.4462. The IMOA guide notes that the higher strength of duplex steels means higher forming forces and larger springback in bending than for austenitic grades, and that shears and slitters need more power: the maximum thickness of 2304 or 2205 that can be sheared on a given machine is about 75 % of that for Type 304 or 316, and about 65 % for super duplex. Plasma and laser cutting use the same equipment as for austenitic steels, with a narrow heat-affected zone of about 0.25 mm that is removed by normal weld preparation. Machining is more demanding than for the 300-series grades, so rigid set-ups, sharp tools and generous coolant are recommended.

The IMOA guide notes that the more highly alloyed duplex grades with higher nitrogen are disproportionately more difficult to machine, and cautions that prolonged warm forming above about 315 °C can reduce ambient-temperature toughness and corrosion resistance.

We run our own workshop next to the warehouse, so 1.4507 plate and X2CrNiMoCuN25-6-3 plate blanks can be delivered cut to size, laser-cut or bent, with protective film on visible surfaces. Details are on our steel cutting services and bending and forming services pages.

1.4507 plate sizes, thickness limits and tolerances

EN 10088-2 Table 8 lists 1.4507 as cold rolled strip (C), continuously hot rolled strip (H) and hot rolled plate (P).

Product formThickness range covered by EN 10088-2Typical width supplied (by mill)Tolerance standard
C – cold rolled strip and sheetup to 8 mmconfirmed at enquiryEN ISO 9445-1 / EN ISO 9445-2

P – hot rolled (quarto) plateup to 75 mm in Table 8; thicker plate by agreementconfirmed at enquiryEN ISO 18286

EN 10088-2 Table 8 gives mechanical values for hot rolled plate up to 75 mm; for bigger sizes the mechanical values shall be agreed at the time of enquiry and order. Under section 6.9 of the standard, EN ISO 18286 normally applies only to individually rolled quarto plate, while continuously rolled material follows EN ISO 9444-2. Ultrasonic testing of austenitic-ferritic flat products of 6 mm and over may be agreed to EN 10307 (section 6.7).

SHH STEEL can supply 1.4507 super duplex plate and sheet in standard sizes or cut to your drawing, after confirming availability with the mill.

Surface finishes for EN 10088-2 X2CrNiMoCuN25-6-3 plate

Surface finish is ordered by the process route symbols of EN 10088-2 Table 6; trade names from ASTM and JIS are shown for reference. Not every route is available for every grade, and the mill confirms which ones it can supply.

EN symbolDescriptionCommon trade nameUse for 1.4507

2RCold rolled, bright annealedBAVisible parts; smoother and brighter than 2B
1J / 2JBrushed or dull polishedNo.4Visible panels; grit or roughness to be agreed

The No.1, No.4 and BA cross-references follow worldstainless and IMOA comparison tables; EN 10088-2 itself defines only the EN symbols, and not every route is available for every grade. Special finishes such as 1J and 2J apply to one surface unless otherwise agreed.

1.4507 equivalent grades: ASTM, GB and JIS cross-reference

The closest 1.4507 equivalent is UNS S32520, so the 1.4507 S32520 cross-reference is the one SHH STEEL uses for dual certification. Buyers asking for an S32550 equivalent should note that 1.4507 overlaps S32550 only in part.

The IMOA cross-reference table pairs the Chinese grade 03Cr25Ni6Mo3Cu2N with S32550 rather than with 1.4507; for pressure equipment its GB counterpart is GB/T 713.7 S25554 pressure vessel plate. Equivalent grades are close but not identical, so the heat must meet every standard named on the order.

1.4507 vs 1.4410

On 1.4507 vs 1.4410: both have 24.0 – 26.0 % chromium and 6.0 – 8.0 % nickel, the same Table 8 proof and tensile strengths (530 MPa and 730 – 930 MPa for plate), the same Table 13 values and the same Table A.2 temperatures. 1.4507 adds 1.00 – 2.50 % copper, has slightly less molybdenum (3.0 – 4.0 % against 3.0 – 4.5 %) and nitrogen (0.20 – 0.30 % against 0.24 – 0.35 %), and a tighter silicon limit, and reaches 25 % against 20 % plate elongation. EN 10088-2 1.4410 plate is the usual choice for seawater; copper is added for acid service.

Applications of 1.4507 duplex plate

Typical applications of 1.4507 plate and sheet listed in the Euro Inox fabrication tables include:

  • Sulphuric and phosphoric acid plants
  • Pollution control equipment (scrubbers)
  • Oil and gas industry
  • Pulp and paper industries
  • Geothermal tubes

For pressure equipment, 1.4507 plate is ordered to EN 10028-7; for other uses, EN 10088-2 applies.

The IMOA guide lists an upper temperature limit of 315 °C in the ASME code for Alloy 255, because of 475 °C embrittlement.

Common buyer concerns and our solutions

For 1.4507 the main risks are a heat that meets EN but not S32520, confusion between S32520 and S32550, 1.4410 supplied instead, and intermetallic phases from slow cooling or high interpass temperature.

ConcernWhat Usually HappensHow SHH STEEL Handles It
Dual certificationMn or Cu above S32520 limits.Mn and Cu agreed before rolling.
Wrong UNS numberS32550 assumed equal.Overlap checked at enquiry.
Wrong grade1.4410 supplied, no copper.Cu checked by analysis.
Intermetallic phasesSlow cooling after annealing.Water quench and test agreed in order.
AvailabilitySpecial grade not in stock.Mill campaign confirmed at enquiry.

None of these steps is complicated, but they need to be agreed at the start. When you send an enquiry, tell us which of these points matters most to you, and the order will be built around it.

Testing, certificates and lead time at SHH STEEL

Every 1.4507 order is supported by documents and checks that make the material traceable to the heat:

  • Cast analysis with chromium, molybdenum, nickel, nitrogen and copper checked, and PRE calculated
  • Tensile test (transverse) to Table 8
  • Impact test for plate over 10 mm when agreed
  • Intergranular corrosion test to EN ISO 3651-2, ferrite content or intermetallic-phase checks when agreed
  • Thickness, flatness and surface inspection
  • Additional checks through our third-party testing service: PMI, dimensional, flatness and surface inspection

If the order does not name an inspection document, EN 10088-2 requires only a test report 2.2. Because this is rarely enough for acid plant, scrubber and offshore equipment or export work, SHH STEEL supplies an EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate as standard and a 3.2 certificate when an independent inspector (TUV, ABS, BV, DNV, CCS or an agency you nominate) witnesses testing and countersigns the document.

Ordering example and lead time

Following the pattern of the example in EN 10088-2, a typical order line would read: 6 plates, 12 mm × 2 000 mm × 6 000 mm, EN ISO 18286, EN 10088-2, steel X2CrNiMoCuN25-6-3 (1.4507), process route 1D, inspection certificate 3.1 to EN 10204. Mill production lead time is generally 30 – 40 days from order confirmation, depending on the rolling schedule, the size and the tests requested; because 1.4507 is a special grade, the campaign date should be confirmed at enquiry. Consolidated small lots follow the same mill schedule, and we send progress updates at rolling, testing and packing.

Why Work with SHH STEEL

  • Mill relationships: long-term cooperation with Chinese stainless mills helps us secure competitive pricing and steadier delivery for 1.4507 and related duplex and super duplex grades.
  • Direct mill contracts: for larger tonnages you can contract directly with a suitable mill, for a modest service fee, while we handle follow-up and documents.
  • Order consolidation: 1 – 5 t lots are combined so they can be placed against genuine mill production.
  • Own workshop: slitting, cut-to-length, laser cutting, bending and protective film before shipment.
  • Inspection and certificates: third-party inspection by TUV, ABS, BV, DNV, CCS or your nominated agency, with EN 10204 3.1 or 3.2 certificates.
  • Flexible payment: TT, LC or a combination of both.
  • Port logistics: coil and sheet are packed seaworthy with heat-number labels and shipped through our worldwide shipping service, together with other grades if needed.

As a 1.4507 plate supplier SHH STEEL also stocks and sources the wider range of stainless steel sheets and plates, so mixed orders of different stainless grades can travel in one container with one set of paperwork.

FAQ

What is 1.4507 stainless steel equivalent to?
The closest equivalent is UNS S32520 in ASTM A240. Chromium, nickel, molybdenum and nitrogen in 1.4507 all fall inside the S32520 ranges, but ASTM limits manganese to 1.50 % against 2.00 % and copper to 0.50 – 2.00 % against 1.00 – 2.50 %. A heat with manganese up to 1.50 % and copper of 1.00 – 2.00 % can therefore be dual certified. The IMOA guide also links 1.4507 to S32550 (255), but that grade allows only 4.5 – 6.5 % nickel and 0.10 – 0.25 % nitrogen, so the overlap is narrow. ASTM A240 calls 255 a common name, not associated with any one producer. There is no matching JIS grade. SHH STEEL checks dual certification limits before the order is placed.
What is the chemical composition of 1.4507?
EN 10088-2:2014 Table 2 lists 1.4507 among the special austenitic-ferritic grades with a cast analysis of maximum 0.030 % carbon, 0.70 % silicon, 2.00 % manganese, 0.035 % phosphorus and 0.015 % sulphur, with 24.0 – 26.0 % chromium, 3.0 – 4.0 % molybdenum, 6.0 – 8.0 % nickel, 0.20 – 0.30 % nitrogen and 1.00 – 2.50 % copper. If a product analysis is agreed, Table 5 allows ± 0.25 % on chromium, ± 0.10 % on molybdenum and nickel, ± 0.02 % on nitrogen and up to ± 0.10 % on copper, so nitrogen may read 0.18 – 0.32 %. The PRE is about 37.1 at the EN minimums, and EN 10088-2 sets no PRE minimum. SHH STEEL checks every certificate and calculates the PRE.
What are the mechanical properties of 1.4507 plate?
EN 10088-2:2014 Table 8 gives values for the solution annealed condition. Hot rolled plate up to 75 mm needs a minimum 0.2 % proof strength of 530 MPa, a tensile strength of 730 – 930 MPa and at least 25 % elongation. Continuously hot rolled strip up to 13.5 mm also needs 530 MPa, with 750 – 1 000 MPa tensile strength and 20 % elongation. Cold rolled strip up to 8 mm needs 550 MPa. For plate over 10 mm, impact energy is at least 100 J longitudinal or 60 J transverse. Table 8 gives no 1 % proof strength. Table 13 gives minimum proof strengths up to 250 °C, for example 400 MPa at 200 °C. SHH STEEL can arrange witnessed tensile and impact tests for 3.2 certificates.
What is the difference between 1.4507 and 1.4410?
Both are super duplex special grades with 24.0 – 26.0 % chromium and 6.0 – 8.0 % nickel, and they share the same Table 8 proof and tensile strengths, Table 13 values and Table A.2 temperatures. 1.4507 adds 1.00 – 2.50 % copper and has a tighter silicon limit, while 1.4410 has no copper, up to 4.5 % molybdenum and 0.24 – 0.35 % nitrogen. Plate elongation is 25 % for 1.4507 and 20 % for 1.4410. The Euro Inox tables list 1.4507 for sulphuric and phosphoric acid plants and scrubbers, and 1.4410 for seawater, desalination and pulp and paper. The ASTM counterparts are S32520 and S32750; ASTM A240 gives the type name 2507 only to S32750. SHH STEEL can quote both side by side for a given duty.
Can 1.4507 be welded?
Yes. 1.4507 is welded with the same practices as other super duplex grades. The IMOA duplex fabrication guide limits the interpass temperature to 100 °C for super duplex, does not recommend preheating except to remove moisture, and warns that very high heat input risks intermetallic phases, while very low heat input leaves an excessively ferritic weld. For joints between super duplex grades, its Table 16 lists AWS E2594 consumables. It also notes that postweld stress relief is not needed and is likely to be harmful. EN 10088-2 Table 8 rates 1.4507 resistant to intergranular corrosion after sensitization. EN 10088-2 does not specify welding procedures, so the fabricator's qualified procedure governs. SHH STEEL can supply test plates from the same heat for procedure qualification.
What is the lead time and minimum order for 1.4507 plate and sheet?
Mill production lead time is usually 30 – 40 days from order confirmation, depending on the rolling schedule, the thickness, the finish and the tests required. EN 10088-2 lists 1.4507 as a special grade, meaning special use and/or limited availability, so the date and available sizes should be confirmed at enquiry. Orders that need dual certification to S32520, or extra tests such as ferrite or intermetallic-phase checks, should state this at enquiry, because the mill has to select the heat and the annealing temperature. Mill minimum quantities for a dedicated rolling are often higher than a single project needs. SHH STEEL consolidates several customer orders into one mill campaign, which makes lots of 1 – 5 t practical. For larger tonnages, a buyer can contract directly with a suitable mill, with SHH STEEL assisting for a modest service fee.
