EN 10088-2 X2CrNiMo18-14-3 1.4435 Stainless Steel Plate
1.4435 stainless steel plate: product overview and SHH STEEL sourcing
EN 10088-2 X2CrNiMo18-14-3 1.4435 stainless steel plate is a low-carbon austenitic flat product supplied to EN 10088-2, the European standard for stainless steel sheet, plate and strip for general purposes. X2CrNiMo18-14-3 contains up to 0.030 % carbon, 17.0 – 19.0 % chromium, 12.5 – 15.0 % nickel and 2.50 – 3.00 % molybdenum. Compared with 1.4404 and 1.4432 it has higher chromium and clearly higher nickel, which gives a more highly alloyed version of the 316L composition. EN 10088-2 lists 1.4435 as cold rolled strip up to 8 mm, continuously hot rolled strip up to 13.5 mm and hot rolled plate up to 75 mm, solution annealed. Table 7 rates it resistant to intergranular corrosion both as delivered and after sensitization.
SHH STEEL works as a steel sourcing partner with long-term relationships with Chinese stainless mills that roll austenitic CrNiMo hot rolled plate, coil and cold rolled sheet. For large tonnages, the buyer can contract directly with a suitable mill, with SHH STEEL assisting for a modest service fee and handling follow-up and documents. For small orders we consolidate demand, so that 1 – 5 t lots are placed against genuine mill production instead of stock of unknown origin. Each shipment can be released after third-party inspection by TUV, ABS, BV, DNV, CCS or an agency the buyer nominates, and payment by TT or LC is accepted. The rest of this page covers the technical side of EN 10088-2 1.4435 and the steps we take so that the sheet that arrives is the sheet that was ordered.
The table below lists the concerns buyers raise most often when sourcing EN 10088-2 X2CrNiMo18-14-3 sheet and plate from China, and how SHH STEEL deals with each of them.
| Buyer Concern | SHH STEEL Solution |
|---|---|
| Fake material or certificates | 1.4435 is sometimes replaced by ordinary 316L with nickel below 12.5 %; nickel, chromium and molybdenum are checked by XRF or OES and carbon by spark OES. Partner laboratories handle chemical analysis, tensile, impact and IGC testing, and 3.2 certificates with third-party witness are available. |
| Unsafe deposit | Payment by TT, LC or a TT + LC combination. For large process equipment projects the buyer can contract directly with the mill, with SHH STEEL assisting for a small service fee. |
| Quantity below mill minimum | 1.4435 plate or a particular sheet size and finish is often needed in small lots. SHH STEEL consolidates orders so 1 – 5 t lots can join a mill rolling campaign. |
| Delivery delays | A dedicated person follows up the delivery schedule with the mill and reports progress at melting, rolling, annealing, pickling, testing and packing. |
| Fabrication needs | Our workshop provides plasma and laser cutting, sawing, slitting and bending, with protective film for visible surfaces. |
EN 10088-2 vs EN 10028-7 and ASTM A240: standard selection for X2CrNiMo18-14-3 plate
1.4435 is usually compared with UNS S31603, Type 316L, in ASTM A240 (see ASTM A240 Type 316L sheet and plate), but the ranges only partly overlap. For pressure equipment it is ordered to EN 10028-7; see EN 10028-7 1.4435 pressure vessel plate.
| Item | EN 10088-2 1.4435 | ASTM A240-22 S31603 (316L) | JIS SUS316L |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carbon | ≤ 0.030 % | ≤ 0.030 % | ≤ 0.030 % |
| Chromium | 17.0 – 19.0 % | 16.0 – 18.0 % | 16.00 – 18.00 % |
| Nickel | 12.5 – 15.0 % | 10.0 – 14.0 % | 12.00 – 15.00 % |
| Molybdenum | 2.50 – 3.00 % | 2.00 – 3.00 % | 2.00 – 3.00 % |
| Silicon | ≤ 1.00 % | ≤ 0.75 % | ≤ 1.00 % |
A heat can meet both 1.4435 and S31603 only with chromium of 17.0 – 18.0 %, nickel of 12.5 – 14.0 % and silicon at most 0.75 %. Against JIS SUS316L, the 1.4435 nickel range lies inside the JIS range and the chromium overlap is 17.0 – 18.0 %. A standard 316L heat will usually not meet 1.4435, so SHH STEEL checks these overlaps when a buyer needs dual certification.
1.4435 is also listed in EN 10028-7:2016 for pressure purposes. That standard may set its own test and property requirements, which we have not reproduced here.

If your contract names the newer edition, SHH STEEL checks the order against that text before production, and any difference is raised at the quotation stage rather than after rolling.
1.4435 chemical composition: heat analysis and product analysis tolerances
The 1.4435 chemical composition below is the cast (heat) analysis from EN 10088-2:2014 Table 1. Values are percentages by mass; a single figure is a maximum.
| C | Si | Mn | P | S | Cr | Mo | Ni | N |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 0.030 | 1.00 | 2.00 | 0.045 | 0.015 | 17.0 – 19.0 | 2.50 – 3.00 | 12.5 – 15.0 | 0.10 |
The 1.4435 nickel of 12.5 – 15.0 % and chromium of 17.0 – 19.0 % are what separate it from 1.4432. Footnote b to Table 1 permits controlled sulphur ranges: 0.015 – 0.030 % for machinability, 0.008 – 0.015 % for weldability, and 0.015 % max. for polishability. SHH STEEL checks nickel, molybdenum and carbon on every certificate as part of the 1.4435 chemical composition review.
Product analysis tolerances (EN 10088-2 Table 5)
A product analysis is a check made on the delivered sheet. It is not mandatory under EN 10088-2; it is carried out when agreed at the time of enquiry and order, and SHH STEEL can arrange it through a partner laboratory. The permissible tolerances on the cast limits are:
| Element | Cast limit, % | Permissible tolerance, % | Product analysis limit, % |
|---|---|---|---|
| C | ≤ 0.030 | + 0.005 | ≤ 0.035 |
| Si | ≤ 1.00 | + 0.05 | ≤ 1.05 |
| Mn | ≤ 2.00 | ± 0.04 | ≤ 2.04 |
| P | ≤ 0.045 | + 0.005 | ≤ 0.050 |
| S | ≤ 0.015 | + 0.003 | ≤ 0.018 |
| Cr | 17.0 – 19.0 | ± 0.20 | 16.80 – 19.20 |
| Mo | 2.50 – 3.00 | ± 0.10 | 2.40 – 3.10 |
| Ni | 12.5 – 15.0 | ± 0.15 | 12.35 – 15.15 |
| N | ≤ 0.10 | + 0.01 | ≤ 0.11 |
Where several product analyses are made on one cast, individual results may exceed the maximum or fall below the minimum, but not both for the same element. If a product analysis is required, it should be stated in the order together with the Table 5 tolerances.
1.4435 mechanical properties: solution annealed condition
The 1.4435 mechanical properties below are the room-temperature values from EN 10088-2:2014 Table 7 for austenitic steels in the solution annealed condition. Test pieces are transverse; the A80 elongation applies below 3 mm and the proportional elongation A from 3 mm.
| Product form | Max. thickness, mm | Rp0.2 min, MPa | Rp1.0 min, MPa | Rm, MPa | A80 min, % (< 3 mm) | A min, % (≥ 3 mm) | KV2 min, J (> 10 mm, long. / tr.) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| C – cold rolled strip | 8 | 240 | 270 | 550 – 700 | 40 | 40 | — |
| H – hot rolled strip | 13.5 | 220 | 260 | 550 – 700 | 40 | 40 | 100 / 60 |
| P – hot rolled plate | 75 | 220 | 260 | 520 – 670 | 45 | 45 | 100 / 60 |
Rp1.0 values are for guidance only. For continuously hot rolled products, 20 MPa higher minimum Rp0.2 and 10 MPa higher Rp1.0 may be agreed. For strip in rolling widths below 300 mm tested longitudinally, the minimum proof strength is reduced by 15 MPa and elongation by 5 % (constant gauge) or 2 % (proportional gauge). For bigger sizes than those listed, mechanical values are to be agreed.
Table 7 rates 1.4435 resistance to intergranular corrosion (EN ISO 3651-2) as “yes” in both the delivery condition and the sensitized condition.
Cold worked condition (process route 2H)
EN 10088-2 Tables 19 and 20 list no cold worked (2H) strength levels for 1.4435, so the grade is ordered in the solution annealed condition (+AT). Where a higher strength is needed, 1.4401 (+C700 and +C850) or the nitrogen-alloyed grades are the usual options.
Minimum proof strength at elevated temperature (EN 10088-2 Table 12, +AT)
| Temperature, °C | 100 | 150 | 200 | 250 | 300 | 350 | 400 | 450 | 500 | 550 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Rp0.2 min, MPa | 165 | 150 | 137 | 127 | 119 | 113 | 108 | 103 | 100 | 98 |
| Rp1.0 min, MPa | 200 | 180 | 165 | 153 | 145 | 139 | 135 | 130 | 128 | 127 |
EN 10088-2 Table 12 gives values from 100 °C to 550 °C for this grade, for the solution annealed condition (+AT). They are minimum values for design and are not tested unless agreed.
Heat treatment of X2CrNiMo18-14-3: solution annealing
EN 10088-2 Table A.1 gives the following guideline temperatures for 1.4435:
| Operation | Temperature, °C | Cooling |
|---|---|---|
| Hot forming | 1 150 – 850 | Air |
| Solution annealing (+AT) | 1 030 – 1 110 | Water or air, sufficiently rapid to avoid intergranular corrosion |
The footnotes to Table A.1 state that with a continuous furnace the upper part of the range is usually preferred or even exceeded, and that the lower end of the range should be aimed at when the heat treatment is part of further processing, because otherwise the mechanical properties may be affected. Solution annealing may be omitted if hot working and cooling achieve the required mechanical properties and resistance to intergranular corrosion.
The Euro Inox tables give the same 1 030 – 1 110 °C range with cooling in air or water. Material is delivered as +AT.
Physical properties of 1.4435 austenitic plate
The values below are approximate reference figures for X2CrNiMo18-14-3 at room temperature, from the worldstainless “Tables of Technical Properties”, which follow EN 10088-1. They are suitable for design estimates and weight calculation; where a figure is critical, use EN 10088-1 itself.
| Property | Approximate value |
|---|---|
| Density | about 8.0 g/cm³ |
| Modulus of elasticity at 20 °C | about 200 GPa |
| Mean thermal expansion, 20 – 200 °C | 16.5 × 10⁻⁶ /K |
| Thermal conductivity at 20 °C | 15 W/(m·K) |
| Specific heat at 20 °C | about 500 J/(kg·K) |
| Electrical resistivity at 20 °C | 0.75 Ω·mm²/m |
| Magnetic behaviour | Not magnetisable in the solution annealed condition (EN 10088-1) |
The EN 10088-1 table as reproduced by Häuselmann lists 1.4435 as not magnetisable, with a modulus of 200 GPa at 20 °C falling to 186 GPa at 200 °C and an electrical resistivity of 0.75 Ω·mm²/m, the same values as for 1.4404.
Corrosion behaviour of X2CrNiMo18-14-3 1.4435
The Euro Inox fabrication tables list 1.4435 for welded parts of high corrosion resistance, the production of urea and synthetic fibres, the cellulose industry and textile finishing, and describe its properties as similar to those of 1.4429. EN 10088-2 Table 7 rates its resistance to intergranular corrosion, tested to EN ISO 3651-2, as “yes” in the delivery condition and “yes” in the sensitized condition. Its chromium and molybdenum minimums (17.0 % and 2.50 %) are higher than those of 1.4404.
| Environment | Typical behaviour |
|---|---|
| Welded parts, high corrosion resistance | Listed end use (Euro Inox) |
| Urea and synthetic fibre production | Listed end use (Euro Inox) |
| Cellulose industry, textile finishing | Listed end use (Euro Inox) |
| Intergranular corrosion, sensitized | Resistant (Table 7: yes) |
| Seawater and warm chlorides | Check case by case; higher-Mo or duplex grades may be needed |
Where the higher nickel is not needed, EN 10088-2 1.4432 plate has the same molybdenum range and EN 10088-2 1.4404 plate the lower 2.00 – 2.50 %.
As EN 10088-2 notes, corrosion resistance depends strongly on the environment and cannot always be judged from laboratory tests, so experience with the grade in similar service should be used.
Weldability of 1.4435 austenitic plate: SHH STEEL workshop practice
1.4435 is readily weldable by the common processes.
- The Euro Inox fabrication tables rate TIG/MIG, manual metal arc and resistance welding as suitable for 1.4435; they give no rating for autogenous welding.
- Filler materials listed are 1.4430, 1.4576 and 1.4440.
- EN 10088-2 Table 7 rates 1.4435 “yes” for intergranular corrosion after sensitization.
- EN 10088-2 does not specify welding procedures; these are published guidelines and general practice.
These points reflect industry practice for austenitic CrNiMo stainless steels rather than requirements of EN 10088-2, which does not specify welding procedures. In the SHH STEEL workshop, blanks and slit strips are cut with clean, burr-free edges so that seam, spot and tube welding run without edge preparation problems.
Forming, cold working and cutting of X2CrNiMo18-14-3 in the SHH STEEL workshop
Annealed 1.4435 forms well with standard austenitic practice and work-hardens during forming, so forming forces are higher than for carbon steel and springback should be allowed for. Table 7 gives it the same plate strength as 1.4404.
Thick plate is cut by plasma or waterjet, and sheet by laser or shearing. Machining needs sharp tools and positive feeds to avoid work hardening at the cut.
We run our own workshop next to the warehouse, so 1.4435 hot rolled plate and X2CrNiMo18-14-3 plate blanks can be delivered cut to size, laser-cut or bent, with protective film on visible surfaces. Details are on our steel cutting services and bending and forming services pages.
1.4435 plate sizes, thickness limits and tolerances
1.4435 is listed in EN 10088-2 as cold rolled strip, continuously hot rolled strip and hot rolled plate, all solution annealed.
| Product form | Thickness range covered by EN 10088-2 | Typical width supplied (by mill) | Tolerance standard |
|---|---|---|---|
| C – cold rolled strip and sheet | up to 8 mm | confirmed at enquiry | EN ISO 9445-1 / EN ISO 9445-2 |
| H – continuously hot rolled strip and plate | up to 13.5 mm | confirmed at enquiry | EN ISO 9444-2 |
| P – hot rolled (quarto) plate | up to 75 mm in Table 7; thicker plate by agreement | confirmed at enquiry | EN ISO 18286 |
EN 10088-2 Table 7 gives mechanical values for hot rolled plate up to 75 mm; for bigger sizes the mechanical values shall be agreed at the time of enquiry and order. Under section 6.9 of the standard, EN ISO 18286 normally applies only to individually rolled quarto plate, while continuously rolled material follows EN ISO 9444-2.
SHH STEEL can supply 1.4435 hot rolled plate and coil, and 1.4435 cold rolled sheet, in standard sizes or cut to your drawing.
Surface finishes for EN 10088-2 X2CrNiMo18-14-3 plate
Surface finish is ordered by the process route symbols of EN 10088-2 Table 6; trade names from ASTM and JIS are shown for reference. Not every route is available for every grade, and the mill confirms which ones it can supply.
| EN symbol | Description | Common trade name | Use for 1.4435 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1D | Hot rolled, heat treated, pickled | No.1 | Hot rolled plate and strip; usual standard for most steel types |
| 1E | Hot rolled, heat treated, mechanically descaled | — | Plate for further processing |
| 2D | Cold rolled, heat treated, pickled | No.2D | Formed parts; good ductility |
| 2B | Cold rolled, heat treated, pickled, skin passed | 2B | General cold rolled supply |
| 2R | Cold rolled, bright annealed | BA | Visible parts; smoother and brighter than 2B |
| 1J / 2J | Brushed or dull polished | No.4 | Visible panels; grit or roughness to be agreed |
The No.1, No.4 and BA cross-references follow worldstainless and IMOA comparison tables; EN 10088-2 itself defines only the EN symbols, and not every route is available for every grade. Special finishes such as 1J and 2J apply to one surface unless otherwise agreed. The Euro Inox tables rate 1.4435 polishability as good.
1.4435 equivalent grades: ASTM, GB and JIS cross-reference
There is no exact 1.4435 equivalent in ASTM; the nearest is UNS S31603 (316L), which overlaps only partly.
| System | Nearest grade | Comment |
|---|---|---|
| EN / ISO | X2CrNiMo18-14-3 / 1.4435 | Reference grade |
| ASTM / ASME | AISI 316L stainless steel plate (UNS S31603, ASTM A240) | Partial overlap; Cr 16.0 – 18.0 %, Ni 10.0 – 14.0 %, Mo 2.00 – 3.00 % |
| China (GB) | GB/T 4237 022Cr17Ni12Mo2 S31603 plate (GB/T 20878; GB/T 3280) | Partial overlap; Cr 16.00 – 18.00 %, Ni 10.00 – 14.00 % (GB/T 4237-2007 table) |
| Japan (JIS) | JIS G4305 SUS316L plate | Close; Ni 12.00 – 15.00 %, Cr 16.00 – 18.00 %, Mo 2.00 – 3.00 % |
For Chinese pressure vessels the nearest grade is GB/T 713.7 S31603 pressure vessel plate, with agreed limits for chromium, nickel and molybdenum. Without such limits a standard 316L heat may not meet 1.4435.
1.4435 vs 1.4404 and 1.4432
Compared with 1.4404, 1.4435 has more chromium (17.0 – 19.0 % against 16.5 – 18.5 %), more nickel (12.5 – 15.0 % against 10.0 – 13.0 %) and more molybdenum (2.50 – 3.00 % against 2.00 – 2.50 %); Table 7 gives the same plate strength. Compared with 1.4432, it has the same molybdenum and Table 7 values but more chromium and nickel.
Applications of 1.4435 austenitic plate
Typical applications of 1.4435 plate and sheet listed in the Euro Inox fabrication tables include:
- Welded parts requiring high corrosion resistance
- Equipment for the production of urea
- Equipment for the production of synthetic fibres
- Cellulose industry equipment
- Textile finishing equipment
- Pressure parts (to EN 10028-7)
For pressure equipment, 1.4435 plate is ordered to EN 10028-7; for other uses, EN 10088-2 applies.
Buyers choose 1.4435 when a process specification names it explicitly or when a more highly alloyed 316L is wanted. SHH STEEL can advise when 1.4432 or 1.4404 would be sufficient.
Common buyer concerns and our solutions
For 1.4435 the main risks are ordinary 316L supplied in its place, certificates that only show 316L limits, and nickel or chromium below the EN minimums.
| Concern | What Usually Happens | How SHH STEEL Handles It |
|---|---|---|
| Low nickel | Ni below 12.5 % (ordinary 316L). | Nickel checked on the certificate and by analysis. |
| 316L-only certificate | Meets 316L but not 1.4435. | Certificate checked against EN 10088-2 limits. |
| Low chromium | Cr below 17.0 %. | Chromium checked by analysis. |
| Wrong standard | EN 10088-2 plate is used where EN 10028-7 is required. | The governing standard is confirmed before ordering. |
| Finish mismatch | 2B arrives when 2R or 2J was needed. | The finish symbol and any grit are written into the order. |
None of these steps is complicated, but they need to be agreed at the start. When you send an enquiry, tell us which of these points matters most to you, and the order will be built around it.
Testing, certificates and lead time at SHH STEEL
Every 1.4435 order is supported by documents and checks that make the material traceable to the heat:
- Cast analysis with nickel, chromium, molybdenum and carbon checked
- Tensile test (transverse) to Table 7
- Impact test for plate over 10 mm when agreed
- Intergranular corrosion test to EN ISO 3651-2 when agreed
- Thickness, flatness and surface inspection
- Additional checks through our third-party testing service: PMI, dimensional, flatness and surface inspection
If the order does not name an inspection document, EN 10088-2 requires only a test report 2.2. Because this is rarely enough for chemical, fibre and cellulose process equipment or export work, SHH STEEL supplies an EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate as standard and a 3.2 certificate when an independent inspector (TUV, ABS, BV, DNV, CCS or an agency you nominate) witnesses testing and countersigns the document.
Ordering example and lead time
Following the pattern of the example in EN 10088-2, a typical order line would read: 6 plates, 8 mm × 1 500 mm × 6 000 mm, EN ISO 18286, EN 10088-2, steel X2CrNiMo18-14-3 (1.4435), process route 1D, inspection certificate 3.1 to EN 10204. Mill production lead time is generally 30 – 40 days from order confirmation, depending on the rolling schedule, the size and the tests requested. Consolidated small lots follow the same mill schedule, and we send progress updates at rolling, testing and packing.

FAQ
- What is 1.4435 stainless steel equivalent to?
- There is no exact ASTM equivalent. 1.4435 is usually compared with UNS S31603, Type 316L, in ASTM A240 and ASME SA-240, but the ranges only partly overlap: ASTM A240-22 gives 16.0 – 18.0 % chromium and 10.0 – 14.0 % nickel, while 1.4435 requires 17.0 – 19.0 % chromium and 12.5 – 15.0 % nickel, with molybdenum of 2.50 – 3.00 %. A heat with chromium of 17.0 – 18.0 % and nickel of 12.5 – 14.0 % can meet both. JIS SUS316L, with 12.00 – 15.00 % nickel, is closer on nickel. The Chinese grade 022Cr17Ni12Mo2, ISC code S31603, overlaps in the same limited way as ASTM 316L. An ordinary 316L heat will usually not meet 1.4435, and SHH STEEL checks the overlap before accepting a dual-certified order.
- What is the chemical composition of 1.4435?
- EN 10088-2:2014 Table 1 gives a cast analysis of maximum 0.030 % carbon, 1.00 % silicon, 2.00 % manganese, 0.045 % phosphorus and 0.015 % sulphur, with 17.0 – 19.0 % chromium, 2.50 – 3.00 % molybdenum, 12.5 – 15.0 % nickel and up to 0.10 % nitrogen. A footnote permits controlled sulphur ranges for machinability, weldability or polishability. If a product analysis is agreed, Table 5 allows + 0.005 % on carbon, ± 0.20 % on chromium, ± 0.10 % on molybdenum and ± 0.15 % on nickel, so nickel may read 12.35 – 15.15 % in a product check. The nickel range is the defining feature of the grade. SHH STEEL checks nickel, chromium, molybdenum and carbon on every mill certificate and can arrange independent laboratory analysis.
- What are the mechanical properties of 1.4435 plate?
- EN 10088-2:2014 Table 7 gives values for the solution annealed condition. Hot rolled plate up to 75 mm needs a minimum 0.2 % proof strength of 220 MPa, a minimum 1 % proof strength of 260 MPa for guidance, a tensile strength of 520 – 670 MPa and at least 45 % elongation. Continuously hot rolled strip up to 13.5 mm has the same proof strengths with 550 – 700 MPa and 40 % elongation, and cold rolled strip up to 8 mm needs 240 MPa. For plate over 10 mm, impact energy is at least 100 J longitudinal or 60 J transverse. Table 12 gives minimum proof strengths up to 550 °C, very close to those of 1.4404. SHH STEEL can arrange witnessed tensile and impact tests for 3.2 certificates.
- What is the difference between 1.4435 and 1.4404?
- Both are low-carbon 316L-type grades rated “yes” for intergranular corrosion after sensitization in EN 10088-2 Table 7, with the same plate strength. The difference is alloy content: 1.4435 has 17.0 – 19.0 % chromium against 16.5 – 18.5 %, 12.5 – 15.0 % nickel against 10.0 – 13.0 %, and 2.50 – 3.00 % molybdenum against 2.00 – 2.50 %. Strip tensile strength is slightly higher, 550 – 700 MPa against 530 – 680 MPa. The Euro Inox tables list 1.4435 for welded parts of high corrosion resistance, urea and synthetic fibre production, the cellulose industry and textile finishing, while 1.4404 is described as similar to 1.4401. The higher alloy content raises the material cost, so SHH STEEL can quote both grades side by side when the specification allows a choice.
- Can 1.4435 be welded?
- Yes. 1.4435 is readily weldable. The Euro Inox fabrication tables rate TIG, MIG, manual metal arc and resistance welding as suitable, give no rating for autogenous welding, and list filler materials 1.4430, 1.4576 and 1.4440. They also name welded parts of high corrosion resistance as a typical use. EN 10088-2 Table 7 rates 1.4435 resistant to intergranular corrosion after sensitization, so welded sections do not need a stabilized grade for that reason. Weld discoloration should be removed by pickling or polishing to restore the passive surface. EN 10088-2 does not specify welding procedures, so the fabricator's qualified procedure governs filler choice, heat input and interpass temperature. SHH STEEL can supply test plates from the same heat for procedure qualification, with the production certificates.
- What is the lead time and minimum order for 1.4435 plate and sheet?
- Mill production lead time is usually 30 – 40 days from order confirmation, depending on the rolling schedule, the thickness, the finish and the tests required. 1.4435 needs a melt to its own nickel, chromium and molybdenum targets and cannot be taken from ordinary 316L stock, so the date and available sizes should be confirmed at enquiry; thick plate or polished finishes may need a particular campaign. Mill minimum quantities for a dedicated rolling are often higher than a single project needs. SHH STEEL consolidates several customer orders into one mill campaign, which makes lots of 1 – 5 t practical. For larger tonnages, a buyer can contract directly with a suitable mill, with SHH STEEL assisting for a modest service fee. Workshop cutting normally adds a few days.
Ordering EN 10088-2 1.4435 Plate from SHH STEEL
EN 10088-2 X2CrNiMo18-14-3 1.4435 is the high-nickel, low-carbon 316L-type austenitic steel with 2.50 – 3.00 % molybdenum, supplied as hot rolled plate up to 75 mm and cold rolled sheet for welded process equipment. Choosing it is the easy part. Getting genuine material that matches the certificate, in the gauge and finish your parts need and on a predictable schedule, is where a sourcing partner earns its place, and that is the work SHH STEEL does every day through long-term mill cooperation, consolidation and its own workshop.
The next step is simple. Send SHH STEEL your drawing, or an enquiry with the quantity, thickness, width, finish and delivery destination, and we will judge whether a direct mill contract or consolidation with processing fits your order better, and quote accordingly.
