Corrosion Resistance
AISI 316LN offers corrosion resistance essentially equivalent to standard AISI 316 and 316L in most environments. Nitrogen has a neutral to slightly beneficial effect on pitting resistance.

Weldability
AISI 316LN has excellent weldability. The extra-low carbon content minimizes the risk of intergranular corrosion in the as-welded condition, while the nitrogen contributes to higher strength in both the base metal and the weld zone when proper filler metals are used.

Heat Treatment
